Day 6 – Entering Italy

Yes, I know that Italy begun once we passed the Reschen pass . But as already discussed South Tyrol has a specific flair. What most of us understand under “Italy” starts south of Bolzano. And this was our trip today.

Mapy.cz is my favorite navigation. But today it misled us completely. First it brought us to a private property. Also the second attempt ended in front of a closed gate. As the famous quote goes: Nobody is perfect. Would you remember the movie this quote is from?

If it were not for football, cycling would be the most popular sport in Italy. I was permanently overtaken by thin men and women, like the lady here. All of them drove three times faster than me, even if I did my best. What kind of genes do they have?

The top signpost reads: Biking track of the Empress Maria Theresia. What an honor to Austria! But what about the signpost prohibiting the bikes to enter?
After the night rain the muddy waters, and we as well, approach the “Gate of Salurn”, the official end of South Tyrol.
Like through a magic wand the apple fields change in the Trento province into vineyards.
Typical Italian highway with rusty guardrails. But as I was told replacing them completely once a while is much cheaper than painting them every year. Fake news or not?
Trento – 119 000 inhabitants and approximately the same number of cafes in the city centre (my guess)
Rovereto, our final lag today. Though smaller than Trento the number of cafes seem even higher!
90 km into the spirit of Italy today
