Via Claudia Augusta

Last year I did not published anything from our cycling alongside the River Rhein. This year I’m coming back to the old habit. Via Claudia Augusta is the plan. 750 km from German Augsburg to Padova in Italy.

Here it starts. Westbahn, our favourite railway operator. Favourite since they have sufficient holders for the bikes – which is a common shortage with the state owned ÕBB.

The Townhall of Augsburg , I’m not sure so I only blindly claim that it was the Roman emperor Augustus, who gave the name to this lovely city
Yes, seeing a pole like that means for 100%: You are in Bavaria.
My look boring, but if I experience this on a bike then my blood vessels are full of dopamine
The Church of Kaufering, a spire like this is another proof that we are in Bavaria
One of many dams built on the river Lech. The mountains in the background is what is expecting us moving, or actually cycling, forward.
Landsberg on Lech, our first destination. We made it to the hotel five minutes before the rain started. And enjoyed a great dinner at a Indian restaurant.
53 km all in all through a lovely and very merciful countryside. Merciful due to easy uphill track. What a lovely warm-up.
