Day 8 – Extra mile

Via Claudia Augusta, or to be specific the branch we took, ends officially in Verona. At least, this is what all travel guides claim. To our pleasing surprise we realized that the signposts bearing via Claudia Augusta, continue further. So we decided to run this extra mile as well.

The start was heavy since a lot of traffic as in all big cities and their surroundings. Thus no photos. The rest then, luckily, made it fully up.

And want more scene, or I didn’t dare to make any photographs. In the unused hotel bar, where we stored our bikes, the hotel manager hired a new employee. An fully flagged emotional staccato Italian dialogue like copied from Woody Allen’s movies. I didn’t understand a word but enjoy that tremendously trying to pretend I was not interested at all.

The city and its surrounding is finally behind us and another biker’s romance through the calm of the fields started
The where Claudia Augusta looks abandoned here. But in reality, it go through a wonderful wildlife sanctuary.
A peek view at the sanctuary
They must much less romantic view, but without these power plants not even this blog what exist. Here a gas one in Ostiglia
The river Po. This name made my five years old granddaughter, laugh, since in German means buttocks. But otherwise a mighty river with endless agriculture areas on both sides of it.
Biking on the Po dam can be as endless as on any other river dam
Countless poplar forest between the dam and the Po river. I still need to find out why do they plan them here in such an orderly way.
A rewarding aperitif before heading the last meters to our accommodation
88 km from Verona to Sermide, or if you prefer from the river Adige to the river Po
