My body called for a break, so I booked a second night in a very friendly, laid-back B&B. After washing my clothes and a small bike maintenance, I participated in a guided tour through the city of Wittenberg. A passionate guide looking like a 50 years old rock musician got immediately our attention. He packed essential historical facts into great stories and jokes. He sold us his city as the most beautiful and important in whole Germany. We all happily agreed. Moreover, he answered all my curious questions. So, my apologies for the rest of the rest of the group, who thus didn’t manage to ask any.

Thanks to this guide today, I finally understood why Luther was such a great guy and what was the reason, context and impact of the Luther initiated church reformation.

A completely another source of great knowledge was a friendly pharmacist. She recommended me a well reputed ointment for the places where my saddle doesn’t feel any pain but my parts do. Having applied it, I believe to have heard my ectoderm cells shouting: “Finally!”

All in all a leisure day with 10 km walked just in Wittenberg.

Luther had fabulous persuasion skills but a terrible money spender. The pub beneath the black bear displayed till 1970’s Luther’s note of debt for 250 guilders, a good annual income at that point of time… (the guide in a blue T-shirt)
